Shop. Shop. Shop. Please. Open Open. Open.Ramble
I very rarely go to Dollar Tree to shop. Mostly due to the odd brand products, that seem to not be that great (although gift boxes, wrapping paper, and cards are a good deal). And some of the name brand stuff, sometimes is packaged in large boxes, with a tiny product inside (bar soaps for example). The batteries I think are old. They don't last.
1. But last week, while there, I saw two products that are not main brand, but off brand that I used years ago. White Rain had this huge Men's Body Wash (I never use body washes for I tend to lose them on the shower floor instead of applying on the body), and Silkience Shampoo. Both in 17 oz containers.
2. The mens' 3 in 1 body wash is great. Clean scent (so you can still smell a bit of the natural you), and is a shampoo and conditioner as well. It is sort of lubey. So it holds together in your hand (and is good for cleaning those deep hard to get parts ;).
3. Plus! It makes a great bubble bath. Like Mr Bubble. And you know how I like baths!
4. So I went back the next day and bought 5 more of each.
5. I am now starting to frequent Old Navy.
6. I am also discovering that even though the sales are good, the quality, in some instances is not that great (perfect for our disposable society that loves to replace things so frequently).
7. I purchased 6 casual T's. After a few washings (in cold water), they are already falling apart. Some are made in Vietnam, others in Mexico.
8. One Polo shirt, and one T, already started to get a hole, and not at the seams.
9. I used to purchase casual T's at Mervyns's. Pretty much at the same price point, as Old Navy. They seemed to last forever. Some were made in Mexico, and the far East.
10. I just purchased some muscle T's from Old Navy that I like for fit. The one that I had is starting to fey a bit too. But I liked them so much, I ordered a few more on line. They were cheap priced so no biggie.
11. The Russell and Champion workout shirts that I got at Mervyn's (and also Sports Authority) have lasted way longer. Pretty much the same price, but thicker material (cotton, vs poly).
12. I used to also buy my dress shirts (pinpoint oxfords) at Mervyn's. Cambridge Classics. For the price you could not beat it. And they also lasted a very long time.
9. As a past Nordstrom employee, yes, Nordy shirts were good quality, but Mervyn's was pretty good too.
10. Macy's of course has a myriad of shirts, and when on sale you can get good ones. Similar non sale shirts were at a higher price point than what Mervyn's was.
11. I still liked Mervyn's the best.
12. I miss them. I suppose Penney's is the most comparable.
13. Rumor has it that they were to re-open in Hayward (Hey Weird), or Garden Grove (Garbage Grove). But has not happened
