come on girls!

I noticed on my friends list, and other peoples profiles, that in their user info, many omit the year of birth. What gives? (I see this on sex sites too). I thought only women were age conscious. Shish! Whimps!

For me, it's entirely a public information issue. I don't want random identity thieves with that much info (I include marketing people in the "identity thief" category).

Exactly. And, you ([livejournal.com profile] cellboy) wonder why you don't see my picture. When you realize what's technically possible, you start getting very scared.

(And, I'm entering my mid-50's.) Nyah!

Hummm. Is that being too paranoid? Should I remove my birthdate? Now I am worried. At least I did not post my Social :(

if you've got nothing to steal, it isn't that big of an issue..

OK, maybe I'm just being paranoid here. But, remember how they were using facial recog software to scan faces of football fans a few years back? Imagine this then. Feed the damn thing big databases of names and faces, say, from DMV. Now, go out to your pr0n sites, your bearsites and cross reference.

Yeah. Just because your paranoid, doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you.

Oh, and Rick? What's the diff birth years are going make? Silly fokkers would just lie about them like height, weight, marital and HIV status.
