called an my mom is saying strange things. She is not eating in the dining room, has her meals up in her apt. She says she is not feeling well (I /we don't think she is eating). And now she says she is going back to the house and will hire her own help (which she can't afford long). Then she calls my sister to see if she is there yet. My sister never told her she was coming by. I know, and Dr's said that is has a touch of dementia; but I wonder if pills, lack of hydration, and diet is also the cause. I called her last night and she sounded ok, but a bit distant. OY! Never thought a parent could be like a child. She has changed so much recently. It will be an interesting weekend when I go up there. A few yrs ago, she was looking forward to moving here. Now she wants to escape :o(. This is the best place for her. I think she is looking for sympathy and more. May have to do the tough and tender love thing I guess. Sorta like the first day of school for a child :o(.
She called my sister like 5 times. But later called again and apologized. Gads! Time for a martini!

the weather was grand yesterday:o). I am so glad I did not go up to Sac this last weekend. We all needed the family break. The Eagle was packed, and the Lone Star was festive with the baseball game going on and such. And again, ones positive mood, the alignment of stars (and a bit of beer)helped me meet some interesting new folks. Slurp! Woof!

Many times when I am troubled or confused, I find
comfort in sitting in my back yard and having a
vodka
and cranberry along with a quiet conversation with
Jesus.
This happened to me again after a particularly
difficult day. I said "Jesus, why do I work so hard?
And I heard the reply: "Men find many ways to
demonstrate the love they have for their family. You
work hard to have a peaceful, beautiful place for
your
friends and family to gather."
I said: "I thought that money was the root of all
evil."
And the reply was: "No, the LOVE of money is the
root
of all evil. Money is a tool; it can be used for
good
or bad."
I was starting to feel better , but I still had that
one burning question, so I asked it. "Jesus," I
said,
"what is the meaning of life? Why am I here?"
He replied: "That is a question many men ask. The
answer is in your heart and is different for
everyone.
I would love to chat with you some more, Senor, but
for now, I have to finish your lawn."
