Top Chef Catch Up
Jan. 15th, 2009 10:04 pmA day late, I managed to watch Top Chef "Down on the Farm".
1. I felt that after hunks Richard, and Danny were gone, the rest of the characters were weak and uninteresting.
2. So last week I began a catch up.
3. Show is not the best as in the past, but not bad either.
4. This week's competition was good. The basics of cooking things left on the bone, to give the meat it's wonderful flavor, that even I knew, the chefs did not...
5. One good thing, that I miss in my life, is seeing all those fresh products. The flavor of a fresh sun warmed tomato. YUM! Or even cooking green tomatoes. YUM!
6. After seeing this, I really am going to make a point to try to get to some Farmer's Markets, or take a quick ride to the coastal farm stands and try to buy more "fresh" staples. When I lived in Redwood City, there were many fresh stands, and unique markets, all of total freshness. Not so much in SSF. Yes. Many grocery stores have the same, but the idea of being outdoors, and picking from a fresh stand is a nice change.
7. Too bad that Top Chef is sponsored by THE OLIVE GARDEN. YUCKY CRAP!
Right now for some odd reason, I am craving a big juicy tomato (that tastes like a tomato!). A tomato sandwich. Or even sliced tomatoes that have been marinating in the cold fridge overnight, in olive oil, basil, garlic, and maybe a small bit of balsamic vinegar. Ahhh. Summer! Where are you?
