An old popular e-mail:

We all know those cute little computer symbols called 'emoticons,' where:

Sometimes these are represented by

1. So tonight after a pretty intense shoulder work out at the gym, got home, ate din din, which consisted of chicken breast, zucchini, and left over spaghetti with meat sauce (I was bored with yams or brown rice (I prepped the spaghetti on Saturday with Hunts Sauce, and browned Jenny O turkey paddies for the meat. It actually tasted a bit like pork, and was yummy)
2. Dinner done, off to the 2nd bedroom to check emails etc. I noticed turtle sleeping on his rock
3. I felt bad. I never really pay attention to him/her anymore, except for his feedings(is this a sign of how I would treat a future long time BF/partner? LOL)
4. So I took him out of the tank. At first he is excited, wanting to scope the place (actually hide in a corner). So petting him is out of the question for the moment. He just ducks his head or runs away.
5. I ended up watching Dancing with the Stars, sprawled out on the sofa. Periodically, I would pick turtle up, as he would pass by, try to pet his head. For a moment he would like it, then get ancy and want down. Turtles tend to barrel though things (not walk around objects) like an army tank. So with my TV remote, that had fallen on the floor, Turtle kept running over it, changing the channels :)
6. Midway though the show, he was on the floor near the sofa. He does understand my tone. Especially if I ask him if he wants out of the tank. I asked if he wanted up? He looked up crawled near the base of the sofa, and almost trying to climb up.
7. So I picked him up. Placed him on my chest, and began to pet the area, between his eyes, and stoking down to his tiny nose. He has always loved that. It sort of hypnotizes him.
8. I think the movement of my chest when breathing also lulls him to sleep.
9. So I continued, until each eye (they move in separate directions) closed.
10. Eventually he tucked his head back under his shell, but my finger remained motionless, between the underside of the shell and the top of his head. He was asleep. And eventually so was I.
11. A few minutes later I woke up, my finger still on his head. He was still asleep. I woke him up, wanting to go clean his filter. So I placed him back on the floor, so he could continue a romp, before putting him back on his rock
12. I told Chips, that we need to do this more often (I used to take him to bed with me, when he was tiny. But he moved around too much most of the night, down near my feet. Then he would get stuck on the side of the mattress, between the tight sheets. Not good if you want sleep :)
