Saturday mellow to fun with lesbians too!
Oct. 11th, 2009 09:06 amSaturday, I starting the day with a leisurely morning of food shopping, car washing, and quickly prepping the Campbell's Soup casserole (which I overcooked, naturally) for the Mt. View Gay and Lesbian Pot Luck.
1. Having the damn nose pack on, I went sort of sheepishly to the pot luck. I was not totally myself with the tampon up stuffed up there, leaking and all (made me want to sneeze), but I made the best of it.
2. It was good meeting for the first time,
allanh, and his partner Randy. Seeing
urbear at the affair was a delight. But strange. I kept feeling that he was just here for a visit (wanting to ask him how long he is here for), then seconds later tell myself, Oh yeah, he just moved here. Yay!
3. I also saw an couple there that I had not seen since maybe 1998. They were friends of my late partner, and we had sorta lost touch.
4. Actually attendance was good, with the usual regulars, and a lot of new faces.
5. I finally added myself to the list. The next party is in San Mateo, by apparently an absolute hunky gay couple. This I must go to!
6. After most of the crowd left, I stayed to help David clean up. A lesbian couple, one is originally from NY, and her partner, originally from the Boston area, also stayed behind. One manages Peet's Coffee in Menlo Park, the other is a ATF agent (with good stories!). Interestingly they want to eventually move back to the East Coast. Now that's a switch. Most people that move here, stay here. They like it here, but would prefer to be there instead.
7. So we ended up on the living room sofas, talking for hours; politics, sex, difference between lesbian and gay people and their relationships, religion. Everything. I love doing this.
8. Then in the background, the Gloria Gaynor song, "I will Survive" plays. Gabby yells out "lets dance!" So for about an hour, we danced to everything, from 30's music, to present tunes, and kiddie stuff like 4 of us all holding hand and tangling ourselves up (stupid but fun. you had to be there, one of those "moment things".)
9. Except for a brief nose bleed, it was fun (I decided I'm skipping gym all week). We all connected,(one of the few lesbians I really really like! (lol), and are making sure that we get together and go out to SF one evening and party.
10. Today, is a plan to continue some shopping, and maybe stay in and do "household catch up"
