Feb. 22nd, 2010 08:09 pm1. After a wonderful Friday night on the RSVP Eurodam, with the finale show, featuring Danny Willams, Amy Armstrong,Mia Dorr, Sister Helen Holy aka comedian Paul Willams (hilarious with her Bingo game), and more, it was off to our nice a final dinner, dancing, and an early night. Oh! I forgot to mention Jennifer Coolidge was the guest act the night before (although performing in front of a gay audience was fairly new to her, she did pretty well)
2. We arrived early Saturday morning in Ft. Lauderdale to disembark, where we would stay with our friend Michael (a former San Franciscan) for a couple of days to see the sights.
3. The disembarkation was remarkably organized. It was the 900 employees job to clear out 2200 passengers, and turn the rooms, and facilitated over within 2 hours, for next cruise. This new ship is huge! To do this in such a short amount of time is remarkable.
4. The staff told us that RSVP cruises is the most exciting and exhilarating group to host. "Gays are so fun!" they said. "In a few hours, all will change. We will have all these old straight boring people to contend with", said another.
5. Ft Lauderdale is nice. The upscale Las Olas area, the beaches, and the bars are a nice surprise!
6. Last night, to end our visit, we barhopped to 6-7 bars. All were very packed for a Sunday (possibly due to the RSVP cruise in town).
7. The dance clubs were great! The music was a bit dated, but the eye candy was sweet.
8. We ended the night at the Ramrod, where I would say was the most leather of leather bars I have seen in years. It felt like the good old days of the Brig/Powerhouse.
9. Although the front bar allowed those like us without leather in. There was no entering to the back patio, unless you were wearing leather.
10 Michael was somewhat irritated about them not letting us in, but I said it was about time they start doing this. Years ago, in SF they used to kick people out of the Eagle, Powerhouse, Loading Dock, Daddy's, if you had tennis shoes, cologne, shorts... Now, the dress code is = anything goes.
11. Even though no access to the back, we had a great time.
12. Up early today, the flight took off on time, arrived home, exhausted, with a bit of a new cold.
13. So off to sleep (I am on eastern time right now anyway
14. Last year, our group went to Mexico for 7 days. Of the 5 of us, 3 got sick on some food, which lasted 4 days, and I fractured my foot (lol)
15. This time there were not incidents. Well almost.
16. Day 2 of the cruise I went to the gym, after a workout with HO, I ran to the bathroom to throw up. Part was the sea, and part was the heavy partying we did the night before :)
17. It took a few days to adjust to the ship and sea.
19. After the cruise and staying in Ft Laud, I was feeling the ship motion just a bit.
20 Mark however was a bit worse. We took him to Emergency for it was pretty bad Saturday night. They gave him some meds, which are not helping that much. He felt fine and back to normal on the plane, but not when his feet are on the ground. He sees his doc today.

22. NOTE: No I did not get lucky. But I did get lucky in realizing or at least in reminding myself I have a great bunch of friends. Not only friends to turn to when in trouble, but also friends that are so easily to get along with that it makes traveling a breeze (we have decided to try to do one big trip a year or every other year together).
23. Cringe & eep! I am avoiding at looking at my bank account after this trip. Better do this one tomorrow though.
