Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] downshifft

1. The weather today is beautiful (our July and August can be worse when the cold fog is in)
2. If someone one more time asks me when the pool heat will be turned on, I will bop them.
3. If anyone who has lived in this area for a long time, knows that this summer-like weather is just a tease.
4. It usually turns on us, with more rain and cold off and on in April and sometimes even May.
5. I finally brought in my Nissan to the body shop this morning. Daland Auto body is known for excellent work (as is Cooks in Redwood City, which also does collectible auto restoration).
6. Plus they are all so cute and friendly. Upon walking in this cute bear cub behind the desk gave me a great big smile and said hi. He looks awfully familiar. Have I seen him at the Eagle or Lone Star?? I have been to Daland so many times, maybe that's it.
7. My new "white" filling is bothering me. My tooth is now sensitive to chewing. Even lettuce. What did they do? They are good dentists, but I really like the one I had most of my life. I think he is more thorough. He is not close (Menlo Park), and he is not covered by my insurance :(
8. Last night a new face walked though the gym on his way to the weight lifting room downstairs. My gayar was on this one. Everyone, had eyes upon him (that includes all the straight boys). He was so hot.
9. Chris, my trainer had me sweating bullets last night. Starting heavy weights on squats, presses, extensions and lunges.
10. A gym buddy said I looked like I was partying Sunday night.
11. He was right. I was at the Lone Star and 440 too late Sunday.
12. Last night I got 9 hrs sleep. I will continue to catch up on rest all week
13. With the warm weather, Chips (turtle, or Turd as I call him), was really hyper, and wanting to come out of his tank. He was swimming incessantly.
14. Even though he does not hibernate, his energy level was low to moderate. Now it's revved up to high.
15. So I put him outside, in the sun, in his feeding bowl just now, with his pellet food.
16. I threw in some spinach leaves, as an ongoing try to see if he'll eat it. He won't. Hates veggies, dried fly. Only like pellets and tuna. Thank God he's not human, and a dinner date. Ever buy dinner and your date hardly eats a thing? Now that frys me.
17. His feeding bowl was the bowl he grew up in, when he was the size of a Fifty cent piece. Will have to get a larger one this summer.

The CIA conducted LSD tests on New York subways, according to a new book entitled "A Terrible Mistake: The Murder of Frank Olson and the CIA's Secret Cold War Experiments."
Bummer. Bad on them!

Don't know why this comes mind. My roommates in college use to take 'E", LSD, or even mushrooms, and go to Disneyland for the day. They said the Matterhorn ride was awesome! O-o. Glad I didn't join em.

1. I just received my renewal letter to renew for 1, 2 or up to 3 yrs; about $230/yr.
2. I'm may not renew
3. Over the past 3 months I may of gone there maybe 2 times.
4. They have more updated equipment, than my main gym. But the conditions stink.
5. The heat is always cranked up too high in the winter. They rarely put on the AC on warm days.
6. Also due to their budget constraints, the Purell dispensers were removed. As was the paper towels in the bathroom (one has to use a blower). It was costing them over $1800/month.
7. Except for the small bunch of regulars, the real serious beefy ones, and eye candy hunks; the place is full of younger adults, young girls and guys hogging the machines, while talking on cellphones... really not a serious environment. Free weights are never racked, causing one to spend useless minutes looking for a matching dumbbell. This happens every visit.
8. I will still go there off and on, but on a $10 day pass instead.
9. This will also give me more freedom to go to the other neighboring gyms, to try out for a change.
10. I still pay my quarterly membership dues, where my trainer trains me (I also pay my trainer); so due to my tight budget this year it's best that I pay for only one gym.
11. My gym has older equipment, but that doesn't matter. Some of the other trainers, have won state championships working out in this little place. And the old equipment is still producing some hunky clientele.
12. It's never crowded (tonight, only about 20 people). And most are there for fitness. Not to chat on cellphones.
13. One Goes in. Works out. Then Leaves.
14. A more focused place.
15. Plus, everyone is always friendly.
16. Obviously if I go to Bally's 3-4 times per month it's cheaper to pay for the yearly rate. But it is also seems easier on the wallet to pay as you go, than all up front.
17. One good thing about Bally's, is that when I initially purchased the 3 yr membership, a trainer was included for 10 sessions. That's how I met Chris, my current trainer. He's a good guy. With his work, and school, he fired all his other clients, but kept me on, due to my determination and serious attitude about the fitness thing. Plus he said I have produced some good results. I think that's cool that he said that :)
18. The past few times I have been miffed at how Bally's is managed. I was to send them a note. Never did. Think I will.
