San Bruno aftermath
Apr. 5th, 2011 02:21 pmDuring my lunch break, I drove up the hill to San Bruno, to see what was left after the devastation.
Although fenced off, I was still able to get shots of the area.
Gone are the skeletons of burnt homes, standing chimneys, and crumbling foundations. The burnt landscape is now covered with winter grass. A sign of renewal.
At first, I didn't think too much about it while driving through, but then it hit me. I thought of the elderly that never made it out of their homes; the pets, the children. I thought of the young man that had been horribly burned trying to save his girlfriend, but never succeeded. Then I started to get teary eyed. Prayers go out to those who risked their lives to save others. And prayers go to the survivors who may be physically and mentally scarred for life. And may those that never survived, may they Rest in Peace. Disasters whether natural or man made are such a sad part of life :(
