Jan. 7th, 2013

1. I did not venture out of my place until Sunday late morning for gym, and for the Hayes Valley Leather Step down, and farewell event late Sunday afternoon.
2. It was nice staying in. I actually did nothing but watch movies on Starz, HBO and Sundance channel Friday and Saturday night. I pay for these channels, yet never watch them.
3. One good, complicated movie (French with English subtitles, so don't leave the sofa, or you miss everything), was Beloved, with Catherine Deneuve, and Paul Schneider (Woof!!!!). Follows the life and times over time, of a prostitute, and her daughter. The daughter who was also prostitute falls in love with a gay man. They loose touch, but later reconnect, to having her want to have a child by him. He initally refuses for he thinks he has AIDS, but later gives in. The 3 way scene with the daughter, he and his boyfriend was pretty sensual.
4. Then I watched View from the Top, with Gwyenth Paltrow, Christina Appleggate, and Candice Bergen. Dumb and slightly funny.
5. After that a really odd movie, Bucky Larson:Born to Be a Star. Pretty racy, somewhat funny. Goofy movie.
6. Aside from that, I just futz around my place, and actually had no music, nor TV playing all day! Once my sister visited, and asked, "have you ever just had the home quiet, with no TV or radio on? Try it. Get a book. Read".
7. Well I didn't read, but did the mistake of watching FB for hours (and scan LiveJournal, LOL)
8. I ended up being somehow found on FB, by some hunk, that asked to "be friended", and later added me to his group called Jarheadhard11. A private closed group, where people post photos of hot men. Course photos have to be pretty tame, no nasty shots, like those we can get away with on LiveJournal.
9. Then he adds me to gRUFFmen. OY! So now I have to triply work to find photos for these (and malepits on FB) as well. OY! And of course the other sites on LiveJournal too. UGH! This is ridiculous.
10. So I obliged, for an hour or so, and posted what I had, or could find for these sites. This can be time consuming, fun, and a waste of time for sure.
11. Then it happened. Friend requests, sparking from these groups. Within a day from "really my type of guys", I suddenly had 20 new friends. And the list is still growing.
12. Friends? Well, really not really. Except for the ones (20-30) that I really know on FB, I'd say most of them are acquaintances if that.
13. Even though I have not met many on my LiveJournal friends list, I feel they are more than just acquaintances. They are also my Friends. I have followed, the life details of each and every one of you. I know you so much better. That's what great about blogging, vs Facebook. Although I have a few I know, that post more meaty stuff on FB, it's still not the same.
14. So for most of the day Saturday, and part of the day Sunday, I was hooked on Facebook. Watching the news-feed, scroll on by. Much like watching ticker tape of the olden days.
15. There are funny things posted, political links posted, or just nothings posted in a fast pace. Skip an hour and you miss a lot! LOL. But FB is good for posting funny fast stuff, and reading about upcoming events.
16. But it's still missing the meat and potatoes of LiveJornal, a blog site.
20. But if you're at an event at that moment, it seems to be much easier to post on FB, than LJ that's for sure.
21. So, Sunday, I finally made the breakaway from FB to get to Marlena's for Hayes Valley Leather thing. It was emotional for many, being that there will no longer be a contest. Gary (Marlena) said the bar will continue, with the new owners, etc. I heard from others, the bar will continue, with the new owners, but not for long. So whose to know for sure. Gary was right about this place. It was the only bar that welcomed, Leather, Drag, Straight, and gay.
22. It was also nice to see so many title holders from all over the state, and see so many in leather. Damn! Like a man in a tux or suit, these guys looked hot. I haven't worn leather in such a long time. My leather pants, or shirt don't fit. And my vest is getting tight (all thanks to the gym). Oh well. No biggie. I will have to shop sometime and replace I guess. But seems like the leather scene has changed, so wearing leather is not as important, cept for events I suppose.
23. As the event was wrapping up, we ventured off to 440 to end the afternoon.
24. All an all it was a good weekend. Happy Monday and week everyone!
25> Oh! And I promise to keep as much sway as I can from the lures of Facebook :)
