The week and weekend so far
Jun. 26th, 2013 07:44 am1. Work has been hellish this week, as was last week. Most don't understand that managing an apt building is not just sitting behind a desk answering phones while filing your nails. It has been hectic. Reports, financial reports, rent increases, and some maintenance is only a bit of what needs to be done. With our large number of vacancies (due to tough rent increases, and unrealistic rental rates on available units, the owners, are breathing down my neck.
2. We are under a microscope. Yes we all got shopped, and did very well. Via the toll free numbers our calls are recorded. Cleaned up our ads via various ad templates for Craig's List, so if things don't rent, then it's the price. But try to tell the owners that, who live in ivory towers and just don't get it. The Koret Foundation, are very difficult to deal with. But in the long run, they will get it. Just a waiting game.
3. I finally finished up interviewing about 15 applicants for maintenance position. Narrowed it down to 5-6 men, which my Regional will be interviewing on Thursday. I really wish our temp, who is the son of our maintenance man in Pacifica, would apply. He is good. Young, he would rather work temping, and have more time off to spend with his girlfriend.
4. Things are running so smoothy on the maintenance side, I am coming to realize that our last maintenance guy really was a problem. He was his own worse enemy. This time, I rarely see the maintenance guy. Gets his work done. Doesn't complain, or become friends with every resident, and doesn't stir up shit.
5. Work being busy as it was last week, Friday night was stay in night. I was zonked!
6. Saturday, I took gym off, and was invited to the Castro theater to see some short ficks, as part of the Gay film festival. I guess it was sort of a date. Nice guy.
7. After spending part of the day with him, it was home again for a nice quiet evening. Still tired from the day and week.
8. Sunday after gym my friend, Tom, Lee, Ho, and Mark had a wonderful late brunch at Farmer Brown's. Never been there before, but the buffet was wonderful. I had too many helpings of fried chicken and waffles, as the live jazz music was playing behind.
9. We then were off to the AMC 9 to see World War Z. I'm not into the Zombie thing as much as this group is, but I must say the movie was really good! I would see it again! And Brad Pitt is still holding up well (woof!)
10. After the movie we ended up at 440 for Furry Sunday, and Harry Lit's birthday celebration. I didn't stay too long, for I know that this work week would be busy.
11. Friday probably planning to go to the Pride Barracuda dance with our group. Saturday, I'm still torn on going out for Pink Saturday. I know for sure that I'm nixing the Pride parade Sunday. Runs too long, and I have been to it almost every year since 1984. But I will prolly take BART up to the Civic Center activities later on that day.
12. Well off to work! Happy Hump Day everyone!
