sick (dog carpet)
Mar. 31st, 2008 08:58 pmUgh! This picture reminds me of a home I saw, when I was selling real estate, many moons ago. This house, which was huge, had a family room the size of most average homes (an Atherton Estate). The owners were hunters. And most of their game, was from Africa. And the furnishings, were made of the animals they hunted. They had a large game table covered in Zebra skin. The stools were made of elephant legs, with feet toes and all! Other pieces of furniture were of animal parts too (lamps, lampshades, picture frames). Chair legs, were of gazelles, and the like, with fur and hooves. Ashtrays and bowls were of animal ears: monkey, cheetahs, lions, bones, etc. And of course animal heads (including monkeys) mounted on every wall.
The house took forever to sell, in spite of being in the best multi-million dollar neighborhood. Apparently most were so appalled by the site of this, they refused to look at the home further. After the real estate agent's day in and day out plea, the owners finally removed the items. Painted everything white.... the home sold immediately thereafter.
The fun and strange things one sees when in Real Estate! (actually my first week in the business, I showed a townhouse, where one of the bedrooms had a sling hanging from the beamed ceiling, and every leather toy and gaget mounted on the walls (I was straight and naive at the time. So that sure made my eyes pop open (and made my loin pop a bit too :)
