the economy

...we are spending 750 billion to get out of debt.......here is a logical question..........if there are 400 million people in the U.S. why doesn't the govt give us all 1 million dollars .......we would pay all our bills, get the economy back on track and we would all be in better shape then ever before..........think about it.. Although my friends' comment is a bit tongue and cheek, he may have a point. Where is my check? :)

Well, for starters, that would be 400 trillion dollars... 750 billion divided by 400 million comes out to $1875 per person. Not quite as impressive.

Ha.Ha.. I should of calculated this quickly when I was talking to him, and before posting this. Well, $1875 would be nice too :)

What do you think the taxes would be on that?

What Urbear said, but also:

There aren't 400 million people in the US, more like 300, but that includes every citizen, not just those 18 and over, or per household.

The 750 billion number is actually an upper limit number. It's not like the government just signed a 750 billion dollar cheque over to all the banks.
