Others less fortunate

Things like this make me sad. My building (owners choice) do not accept Sec 8 vouchers.
An email like this that I just received at work, makes me want to count my blessings....

"Hello my name is Jeanette and I am inquiring about the rental in San Mateo.
I had been living in San Bruno for the last 13 years, I had a 4 bedroom apt. and had all 4 of my daughter living with me. Slowly they grew up got married and moved. The rent starting getting outradgouse. The 2 younger daughters continued to live with me and my grandaughter that is so near and dear to me her name is Tatyana she is 7 years old.
The landlord continued to raise the rent till I could not afford it. I moved out on November 1,2008 and haven't found a place. We had no Christams tree no Christmas.

I have been staying in hotels or with family members a few are here and there. My family is torn apart.
I have always been able to provide a place to rest there heads. It breaks my heart everyday that we are basically homeless.
I have worked for the past 30 years and in July I was laid off, Jonathan had been working for 2 years as manager for Blockerbuster and was also laid off in November 1,2008.
The reason for my story is I am in need of a place . I pay my rent on time and we a very quite, and clean.
I know your e-mail for this unit says NO SECTION 8 but could you please consider it.

Thank You for your time
Jeanette"

Sorry. I'm just a bit suspicious.

I am too. There are a lot of scams out there. And we get them all the time. But if the story is true, sad.

It's in the approach. Jeanette hits you with the big "tale of woe" right off the bat. Had my BS detector going off right away.

Yeah. You should see the ones I get from a "Minister on Assignment in Africa"., or the gentleman from England. Scam. Most of those are coming through Craig's list. Very easy to tell, since we get the same often.
