Comfort food
Oct. 3rd, 2007 12:54 pmI was at Starbucks yesterday just eying the maple bars. I forgot about how good they are and that I used to eat them every moment I get. Ahhhh. Love maple sugar, and syurp. A great comfort food or snack. I behaved, and didn't buy one...well at least this time.
What are your comfort foods? Here are some of mine. I just can't limit this to a few. These are some of the things I would be happy with if I were to visit your home :o)
Breakfast
Ham and cheese omelets with savory hash browns, bacon, not too crunchy, orange juice, and a good cup of just plain old coffee
Eggs Benedict
Toast with butter and real Canadian Maple Syrup
Peanut butter on toast. Yum!
Lunch
Egg salad sandwich (lots of mayo)
Tomato sandwich on toast. Lots of mayo
Cucumber sandwich. Lots of mayo
Good pastrami sandwich.
A good turkey sandwich
A good roast beast on dutch crunch bread
Big juicy burrito.
Pizza! Salami and pepperoni
Dinner
Beef Stroganoff
Spaghetti with meat sauce; Lasanga
Rib eye steak, med rare
Baked potato; sour cream
Lamb shank
Pot roast
Trout, Salmon
Tourtiere: my moms French Canadian meat pie.. This tops the list for the holidays
French green beans, corn, peas, brussel sprouts, asparagus. All with oozing butter.
Deserts and snacks
Pecan pie.....my favorite
German Chocolate cake...next fav
Fudge, light or dark.... I can finish a pan in less than an hour..yum
Maple bars of course!
Potato Chips. The regular ones, not baked. I can finish a huge bag in minutes. Creamy dips of course. Or chips and salsa.
French Fries. This should be at the top of this list too.
Jello, strawberry, with cream or milk, and cut banana on top. Sounds gross, but good.
Cream cheese on toast
Butterscotch swirl ice cream
Popcorn; real popped, not microwave; lots of butter added and salt
Salami. Especially the greasy sliced ones in the packet. Roll up with cream cheese. YUM!
There is more but... off to lunch!
