nove e più (Nine and more)
Dec. 27th, 2009 10:17 pm1. Sunday, my plans of staying in, and cleaning and organizing my home and life for the new year changed.
2. Griff emailed me at 10:30 am, asking if I wanted to meet him, Ho and Robert, at the Castro Theater to see NINE at noon.
3. Of course! So I quickly scarfed breakfast, showered, filled the car with gas, then drove up to SF for our meet.
4. Surprisingly the Castro was quiet, and parking was easily found in front of Cliffs Variety.
5. And even more surprisingly, tickets were available, and the theater was not that full. Every one must of been at Avatar.
6. Although slow at first the movie picked up, the theme fell into place within the first half hour, and it was quite enjoyable. Daniel Day-Lewis was very good. Kate Hudson (who will forever remind me of her mother, was fantastic. She can sing and dance?). In fact the whole cast were excellent. And Sophia Loren, is very very well preserved!
7. Although given mixed revues, I will say this interesting "Chicago, Bob Fosse like" musical, drama and dance movie was worth the see. And actually a nice change from the CGI and Sifi films that have been so prevalent (which I love) lately. Even Ho who will only go to SiFi type films, enjoyed this.
8. After the film, we all went across the street to 440 (of course).
9. Today was Sunday, Furry Sunday.
10. But I could not stay to enjoy the view of the hot bearish crowd, that began to pour in. I was off to Mt. View to friend David's home for a post holiday dinner, of Ham, potatoes, and veggies. Scott, Jim, and
peters_search, and his partner Dave were also there to bring the evening and day to a pleasant end. It really was a pretty low key weekend. Which, in retrospect was fine with me.
11. Tomorrow is a the beginning of the work week :(. But a short week again! :)
