The weekend and week so far

1. Friday was of course meeting friend Mark, and Jim at the Sun for the usually happy hour.

2. It was nice not staying out late for a change, I was home and asleep by 10:30! That's PM guys!

3. Saturday night, friend Lee, and his partner Tom, organized a nice get together at Delancey Street Restaurant, for Lee's 45th birthday. Food was pretty good. Waiters were hot! (some could be ex-cons!). This is a great organization that always needs our support.

4. We later ended up at the ever packed Edge Bar (it closed yesterday), and then 440. Friend Jim met us there later. He had to unfortunately drive back to San Jose for a family issue, but later came back up to join me.

5. Sunday Jim and I took our lazy time getting out of bed, did the usual breakfast thing, then headed out to Moscone Center for the Fancy Food Show. Friend Mark, who is in the wholesale food business, for Ital Foods offered to get Jim and I into the sold out event.

6. Ital Food's display and foods were incredible! They probably had one of the most awesome exhibits there! We spent hours tasting foods, and drinks of all kinds.

7. Leaving the event, a bit nauseous, from mixing too many types of food, we were then off to 440 for Lees actual party day. He had the back part of the bar set up with balloons, and pizza for those that wanted to partake (we were too full to eat!)

8. Later we were off to the Edge for a few minutes for a final goodbye (actually they are looking at 5 other options in the Castro (the new lease at the current place jumped up from about $8000/month to $14,500/month).

9. Home early, and to bed early, watching the Golden Globes, I was up early with a bit of heartburn from all that food yesterday!

10. Back to work!

I'm surprised I didn't see you guys after Midnight Sun... I was at both the Edge and then 440 after that.

The Edge was a zoo last night. Not really pleasant. Too crowded! They of course stayed open as long as they could for $$$ I suppose. They ran out of tab, Buds, and Miller beer early, and only had Pabst in cans (the stuff used at Castro Fair). They were also handing out the Edge "dicks" posters :). Who ever leases that place will have to do a lot! The biggest issue is the plumbing.

I bet it won't be a bar again. Just a guess with no basis in anything, but I just have a feeling. So many of the bars in the neighborhood end up closing and becoming something totally different. I still miss the Phoenix, like Walgreens really needed to expand LOL

Maybe CVS will move in. As if they need another pharmacy. Or Jack in the Box? Ahh, the Phoenix... and it's itty bitty dance floor :)
