Question for an old iMac (I really need to get a new one! But I still love it)

Too lazy or not Mac Savvy on this:
Since everyone asks if I Skype, cam and such:

Can I add a web cam to this old iMac? 800Mhz, PC G4, Tiger OSX 10.4.11

I do have iChat AV 3.1.9 (2006)

System requirements
1GHz Intel processor
Mac OS X v10.5.8 (Leopard) or newer.
•100 MB free disk space.
•Either USB or regular headset if your Mac does not have a built-in microphone.
•Download drivers if you are using an external webcam.
•For voice calls recommend broadband connection with 100 kbps down / 100 kbps up.
•For group video calling everyone on the call needs Skype 5.0 for Windows or Mac or higher plus webcams, and at least one person needs a group video calling subscription. For best quality we recommend you use a high-speed broadband connection of 4Mbps down/512kbps up and a computer with a Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz processor. As a minimum you’ll need a high-speed broad connection of 512kbps down/128kbps up and a computer with a 1 GHz processor.

That would be a "No".

That's only for the latest versions of Skype… I still use 2.8 for the mac.

Skype 2.8 will work on your machine, but you also have iChatAV, which means if you just add a webcam you can video chat with other mac folk on iChat.

There are a lot of cams out there, and I believe 10.4 has the proper drivers built-in, so merely plugging it in will work just fine. You do have to make sure the cam is mac-compatible however.

They're VERY difficult to find, but if you can find an old iSight (it's a firewire webcam), that will be guaranteed to work, assuming the cam itself is in working condition.

YUM...

I want to kick Qwest, now CenturyLink (or Stink* lol) to the curb w/ the usual land-line biz. and try out Vonage or Skype for around 60 bucks a year...plus adding a new # w/ Skype for official reasons... and who knows, a new Webcam to boot!!! or Not ?
