I woke up this morning, to hear that one of the nicest men of San Francisco, had passed away last night.
Mike was one of the bartenders at the Edge Bar. The "old" Edge bar. He worked mostly days and on Sundays. He was one of the nicest men I had ever met. A gentleman. Always, no matter who stepped up to the bar, would greet them with good words and a handshake.
Last year Jim and I got to talking with him, after his shift. Telling us the humorous trials and tribulations of once being married, raising kids and all. Not sure at the time if his son was living with him or his ex-wife, but he said nothing but wonderful things about his family and how proud he was of them. His son was with him as we spoke. Nice young man. They had such a good father son bond.
He had quit working at the Edge due to illness. So far no one knows at the moment what his illness was. I believe Mike passed away with his son at his side.
Bye Mike. You will truly be missed

Date: 2012-02-23 11:09 pm (UTC)I loved Mikey. He was such a good fellow. As an out-of-towner, he always remembered me.
