The weekend and week so far
Sep. 18th, 2012 02:51 pm1. Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have not been keeping up with Live Journal. I promise be more diligent in catching up, or caught up.
2. I've been busy! Friday night was the usual with friends, but Saturday was actually fun!
3. Saturday afternoon, I made it down to my high school reunion. Yes. Even though I loathed high school, I actually had fun, and glad I went. I will go next time too!
4. Thank God for name tags! Although many had changed, as I, the one thing in everyone that had not changed were their eyes. Some of the people looked really good! Some not.
5. The venue was at a classmates private warehouse, where he stores his VW Car collection. That in itself, Bugs and Vans dating back to 1946. All restored perfectly. He has over 150 cars. Nice hobby! Life must be rough!
6. One gal, actually still beautiful (that Kardashian look), showed up drunk, or on something. She was wearing a denim skirt, very short, and a midriff blouse showing off her belly tats. She knocked her folding chair over, and was a bit dramatic. Anyway many at nearby tables seated said to each other, "Laura has not changed, since 4th grade! LOL".
7. Later that day, they had a huge BBQ, lots of good food and drink. It was good to bump into lots of people who I really had not seen since my 15 yr reunion. Some since high school! Many live out of the area, or out of state.
8. As the day progressed, it seemed all the old clicks, grouped up with each other again. I ended up at a table with my old friend Glenn, and another high school friend Joe. The Ra Ra's ended up at their tables together. LOL
8. My bud since 4th grade was there with his wife. He still looks good. A bit on the heavy side, but his face had not really changed at all. Of my friends, he was the first one to have fur on his body. Probably around 6th or 7th grade. He had a hot body, pecs, and was very athletic. I had a crush on him then!
9. Then towards the end of the evening, I run into another friend that I used to hang around with more often during elementary and Jr High. He reminded me that at the 10 yr reunion, we left the Circus Club, and went back to our elementary school, sat in the halls and smoked pot. That I forgot! LOL
10. He also reminded all of us in the group about how unique our high school was. It was one of the first in the nation to test integration. And at this school, it was a tedious test. Especially the riots (though it was nice having the school closed down for a week, and time off LOL)
11. It was a culture adjustment for everyone. Mixing Atherton kids (some of the richest families in the bay area), with the working, middle and high middle class Menlo Park kids, with the poor black families of East Palo Alto was a challenge (the riots that started when I was there was due to 2 rich white kids, stabbing an innocent black kid)
12. We talked and wondered about other neighbors or classmates that were not at the reunion that night. We exchanged emails.
13. I was home pretty early, for the next day it was an early rise and shine for the annual Leather Walk. Since I was supplying the balloons and helium again this year, needed to be there to start blowing (with help from others of course). Seems there is a helium shortage. So finding tanks to lease was impossible. I had to go to Target and buy 10 tanks for this event :(
14. The balloons were blown. The Leather Flag was raised above Harvey Milk plaza, to start off Leather Week. Lots of events will be happening this week. And of course Folsom St Fair.
15. At work, still working on the financials. So busy :(
