cellboy: (prepare to be annoyed)

Our mailman, new to this route for about two years is really getting me annoyed. Aside from still delivering mail to residents that no longer live here, he constantly delivers mail to the wrong boxes.

He also is lazy. Unlike all past delivery guys and gals, he never goes to the apartments to deliver packages. He just dumps them in the office, and puts the pink reminder notes in the resident boxes (we do take packages for residents, but UPS, FedEx and other delivery services do check to see if the resident is home first).

As I did with him and others in the past, I print out a current list of names of all the current residents. Do you think he reads them? No.

He also periodically forgets to lock gang box, leaving it open all night.

Mike, and Orlando, the past mail persons, was always updated on resident status. Knew what was going on. They took care and pride in their job.

So this morning, he shows up with mail. Forgets the gang box keys, and says he will be back. He asks me (while I'm busy on phone) if he can, and leaves the boxes of mail and packages in my office, and says he will be right back. It’s been two hrs. He still has not returned. I need to leave. Should I take the mail to the PO? That is illegal!

I called the Post Office, told them, and they nonchalantly said they gave him the key will let him know, he is on his way. They seemed not to be concerned

OY! And I thought the Postal Service; a branch of the federal government is a secure service. I could have tampered with the mail!!!!

The Postal Service is so broke they don't care any more as long as the mail gets out of the office. I retired from the PO 5 years ago and service is a thing of the past, its on of the reasons I retired when I did. I couldn't stand how little they cared about service, it all became about numbers nothing else as that's how managers got their bonuses.

That is so sad... to see such a proud and honorable business slowly go down the tubes, as does the work ethic. I guess that's a sign of the times. No wonder other countries seem to be outdoing us in so many ways :(
