The weekend and week so far (shopping for womens clothes is work!)

Part of my hat piece.

No wonder some women make clothes shopping an almost career. It's a lot of work. But then again they are accustomed to it, since it's part of the routine.

1. Friday, I was out with the boys. I took BART in to be sure that I would be home fairly early, which I was. We were to talk about our getting organized for this Saturday, the Halloween Drag that we are all doing.

2. Ho had the day off, due to his Colonoscopy. Earlier in the week they found blood in his stools, so thought they had better check him out. They did remove a few polyps, and sent it to the lab. No word from Ho as to what the results were. Hope he is ok. Anyway he needed the moral support and such. So we went out, and later had dinner at Cafe Mystique.

3. Don't know why I ordered the same thing as last time, Lamb Burger with garlic fries. It gave me heartburn all through the night.

4. Saturday morning after gym, I met up with Mark, Tom, and Lee in the Haight, at the Piedmont store to see what stuff they had. Fun stuff!

5. I was looking for a good sexy bra, with lace on the fringe, in a 40 C or D. They had something cute with lace, but not in my size for the moment. I could come back to the store on Tuesday or Wednesday and they would have the new shipment of stuff in.

6. Lee, was making a bigger deal about this whole drag thing than most of us. He couldn't decide on the dress he purchased in the Mission. Did it look too cheap? Or should he get a fancy one? OY. Cheap? He going as Bonita Bay View, so how cheap should he look? LOL

7. So after the Piedmont, I met him at the store in the Mission to help him decide on this dress. He did exchange it, and now had to find good earrings to match. Oy!

8. I on the other hand thought, how am I going to get to the Haight in the middle of the work week. So I too, became a fanatic on clothes and started the search for a bra that looks good and fits. The Mission stores did not have them. Ross, Target, or Marshalls did not have them. Neither did Avenue (a store for full sized women). Well, they had my size, but they were ugly.

9. Lee suggested I get bra extensions for my old bra. Never heard of them (yet he has? LOL). So I ended up at Lane Bryant, in Daly City, another store for fuller sized women. They had the sizes, but ugly too. I did get the extensions to try them out. It worked but I needed a more rounded cup, not a half cup bra that I already have.

10. So Sunday morning while working out, I suddenly thought, what about Fredrick's of Hollywood? In college a friend of mine who was a pretty big woman, always had the nicest evening cocktail wear. She said she always bought at Fredrick's.

11. So off I went to Tanforan Shopping Center in San Bruno, to Fredrick's. They had some cool stuff. And alas they had almost the bra I was looking for. Not much lace around the edges, but a lace pattern on the cups. Whew! That was exhausting!

12. I must say that in the old days, when one went shopping for any type of female drag clothes in the straight shopping areas, one would get strange looks. But at the malls over the weekend, everyone was nice and just treated me as a normal customer

13. I did see, two drag queens shopping at both Serramonte and Tanforan malls. They were very well put together, so it really was hard to tell. But my "gaydar" sniffed them a mile away! LOL

14. Thank God I have old clothes and stuff in storage! That saves time too! We are also saving time on makeup on Saturday. Tilly, or most notably known as drag entertainer Cockateilia, will be doing our makeup for a small fee. Those that want their wigs done can also have him (Mike) do it for a small fee (I decided on doing my own wig, and am struggling with styling it at the moment).

15. On last minute notice, friend Will is coming up from LA to see the whole thing. He has never been to the Castro for celebration. He is also required to wear a costume. He won't do drag, but he will figure something out. He said he is going as a hippy. So I said I have bras and wigs, and we can do a camp thing and call him Hatie Asbury.

16. After my good find at the store, I later took BART back to the Castro, to join friends at 440 to watch the SF Giants win their way to the World Series.

17. This week work will be busy. We are conducting our annual apartment inspections. Checking smoke detector batteries, changing furnace filters, and installing the new carbon monoxide detectors in each unit (becomes law1/2013).

18. Our group of 6-7 representing neighborhoods of SF will be wearing hats with the symbols of each neighborhood on top (like the hats on Beach Blanket Babylon). Mark is making the hats. He is doing a fantastic job!!

Once made up and dressed, we will take the F line trolley to the Ferry Building and walk the Embarcadro (the straight areas). Then head back to the Castro.

After Saturday, I know it will be many many years that I do this again!!! If ever!

The leather cap will have the street sign and other surprises Mark will create, My ensemble as Miss SOMA Oats. The bra (which underneath are pantyhose balls filled with birdseed), corset, leather skirt, and and Garter Pantyhose (over beige pantyhose, so I don't have to shave). If I can't tolerate the thigh high boots, I'll do the heels (those are easier to walk in). I could not find a simple leather jacket, so will decide on one of the two that I already have. I'm just wearing it over my shoulders. I will have to shave my chest and stomach for this. Itch!

I kept thinkin' about that movie, "Torch Song Trilogy" ... when the guys went shoppin' for their perfomance clothes!! LOL! And i could just imagine you and your crowd! LOL!
