I really need to do this

I was at the Apple Store yesterday looking at the nice, sleek iMacs. Wow! I really need to upgrade. And it seems from looking on Apple Support it's fairly easy to transfer my crap from the old computer to the new. And my current Firefox bookmarks too (I prefer Firefox over Safari).
The only thing is that in a few weeks a new iMac is coming out with a thinner screen without a DVD player? So??? Now what? Do I need to purchase another item to play my DVD's or burn some for the car? I think I will purchase the current model with the player included. Easier on desk space.

They get to drop optical drives in a rush to be the first to recognize the demise of physical media while saving bucks (for themselves) at the same time. You'll have to buy an external drive with the new iMac just to rip CDs or watch DVDs.
I have last year's iMac model and am quite happy to stay with it. The transfer of info from my older Mac was clean and simple via an ethernet cable.
