I just rec'd this on my email: This also happened to a friend of mine twice!
"Hi everyone,
First of all I apologize if anyone received this e-mail more than once.
I write to you today to tell of another frightening and disturbing incident that occurred this past Monday evening (Tuesday morning).
My friend Rico and his friend Will were attacked for no apparent reason. They were walking home, after hanging and closing the Men's Room, and at the corner of Hartford and 19th street a few (we don't have all of the details yet) guys jumped out of a car to attack. Rico asked, "What's going on? Here take my wallet!" They weren't interested in the wallet. They smacked it out of his hand and then stabbed him. In three places. They then grabbed his friend Will and threw him into the car and drove down Hartford street towards 18th. Rico ran after the car and then realized he was bleeding. He turned the corner and saw a squad car at Nazario's. When he got there the police called an ambulance. I don't know why they didn't go after the perps. Like I said I'm still working on the details. When the car got down to 18th street it made a right and dumped Will (after stabbing him as well) down about the middle of the block between Noe and Sanchez. There is still a trail of blood that goes from the middle of the block up to the 7-11 at Noe.
Rico was stabbed in his right arm where they hit an artery, his upper right chest, and the lower right quadrant of his abdomen where he suffered internal bleeding. He just got out of ICU sometime yesterday and I am not sure about Will, but I have a feeling that he is OK.
There is a suspicion that this may have been some type of gang
initiation.
I would like to stress the carrying of your whistles. They must be held in your hands especially when walking down a street that no one else is on. Incidents like this can and do happen. It CAN happen to YOU!
I don't like to hear about things like this especially when they happen to people I know and care about.
We are trying to get CCOP (Castro Community on Patrol) on the streets more often. We need more volunteers (like you and/or your friends). We can't do it alone.
PLEASE BE AWARE!!
Erin"
