lost and almost homeless - "Leather Walk"

I, as many of you, have lost many a friend, or lover to Aids, Cancer and other debilitating diseases. And being in my 50's, I have seen the horror and sorrow of the "gay" 80's and our losses, to Aids. I have seen them loose their jobs, after being on disability for months. And in turn loose their health insurance. Meds costing over $900 per prescription can be a blow. All of this can force one to lose their home, and ability to live in a comfortable manner. There have been support agencies to assist. A SAFETY NET. One of these is the Aids Emergency Fund, the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (Yes. Men get breast cancer too), and the Positive Resource Center. They always need our support. Our community needs their support. Year round there are fund raisers to help keep these organizations going. One of these fund raisers is Leather Walk. Held on Sept 23. Walkers obtain sponsors, to donate what ever they can to Leather Walk. 100% goes to these 3 organizations. The fun part is that the Leather Flag is raised at Harvey Mild Plaza, to commemorate the beginning of Leather Week, a week before Folsom Street Fair. What is fun is the walk takes us down Castro and Market street, and bar hope thorough SOMA to finally end up at the Eagle, where Lenny Broberg auctions off the BARE CHEST CALENDAR MEN - WOOF!! for a dinner date.
