Staying in for the day. Too wet out there. If anyone gets IFC, (and I'm sure they will rerun this) I just finished watching the most touching movie, Spring Forward (2000). It portrays the bonding of two straight men (Actor Ned Beatty and Hunky Liev Schrieber), coming to terms of aging, male bonding, and the coming to terms with, and acceptance of his gay son. I thought it was quite moving.

On KGO radio this morning Mike Farrell (MASH), and Ed Asner, and a few attorneys were discussing the possible SAG strike coming in January, and that this may also be yet another blow to the California Economy. Although I don't quite understand all the legal jargon on all of this, it was quite interesting: And if someone could explain what exactly both sides are fighting about, in simple jargon, please do :)

OK. This weather may not be as bad as what you snow belt peeps are in right now, but it is cold, damp, and rainy out there..... So time to make a quick soup!

My mom was the best in making homemade soups. But sometimes she would cheat and open a can, or package mix and add to it....

So as a lazy quickie, I made this one that mom would do once in awhile (I also liked it cold out of the fridge)
1. Packet of the Chicken Noodle Soup (Lipton, Safeway, whatever)
2. After simmering, add one can of Chopped Tomatoes Italian style.
3. Continue to simmer. Serve
4. Instead, this time I added a can of Chopped Tomatoes with green chilies. Spicy!!!
5. You can add bay leaf, diced chicken, and other stuff if you want to too.

YUM

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In July I signed my organ donor card (28 points). In May [livejournal.com profile] loves_gay_sex and I donated clothes to the needy (11 points). In November [livejournal.com profile] shirtlifterbear and I robbed a bank (-50 points). Last week I pulled [livejournal.com profile] djhirokun's hair (-5 points). Last Monday I committed genocide... Sorry about that, [livejournal.com profile] theoctothorpe (-5000 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-5016 points). For Christmas I deserve a lump of coal!

Sincerely,
cellboy

As I am receiving and writing holiday cards, I am amazed at the age and age difference of some of the members of my family. My mom was the baby of 7 children. My cousin, her niece, sent me a card with her age on it. She is 70, only 15 yrs younger than my mom. On my dad's side, he was the baby of 15 children (horny French Canadian Catholics!). His oldest sisters were already out of the house and married with kids when he was born. He said he really never knew the older ones. They had already flown the coop, leaving an exhausted mother behind (lol). And some of his cousins were way older than him. And some of his 2nd cousins almost the same age. Odd. Years ago,in the 70's, I counted all the aunts, uncles, cousins and 2nd cousins that were still alive.... I think we had almost 500 members in all. Those horny Canadians! Must be those cold winters. And it's a shame we don't really all know each other well. We've all met once or twice over the years though.

My Uncle spent yrs publishing a family tree and history, for the family, on my mom's side, going back to the 1700's, and the American Revolution. It's quite a thick book. And very interesting.
