So it's Good Friday eh?
Apr. 10th, 2009 01:31 pm1. Our staff asked me today if I am eating a tuna sandwich for lunch, and fish tonight. Am I a good Catholic?
2. I am eating fish tonight, not because of any religious thing, but because it was planned days before, and I am sick of chicken. And no I am not fasting (although would be a good health thing)
3. Yes. Growing up Catholic, going to Catholic school through the 4th grade, followed traditions, superstitions as most families did, but not in a strict sense. Although I did want to become an alter boy. As my father said often, "If there were no Religions, the world would be much better. They are the ones that screw things up in the world. Make the world a mess."
4. As yrs went on, Mom would forget the fish on Friday thing, and going to confession was not mandatory. We went to church though. In fact our Monsignor friend, was quite liberal, said that he thought that confession was not mandatory; just ask for forgiveness every night before you sleep.
5. So we I guess were petty liberal Catholics.
6. I sometimes believe in the God I was taught about. But then again, I sometimes believe there is some sort of other power, creator, or just something out there. Or maybe there is nothing at all. Or that nothing is something incomprehensible.
7. I sometimes believe there was a Christ. Then at times, I think, maybe he did exist, but as just a smart man.... the real one has not visited yet. And is all that real to begin with?
8. At times, when I am in trouble, I still pray. Then I apologize to God for using him, for only praying when in trouble, and not just praying on the good days, as a thank you.
9. Then other times, I think praying to no matter whomever, is just a form of meditation. And things solved are really from our own doing. The mind over matter though meditation thing. No God needed. But things/problems in my past had been solved though prayer. Was it God or me that had the doing?
10. So as for now, I still question God's existence, Christs actuality. But in any case, I *am* very spiritual.
11. And Easter, as Christmas, as with other religious holidays around the world, are at least a good excuse to get together with family and friends. And that's what life is about. Isn't it?
