Hummmm. The weather was just like this then, warm....muggy.....earthquake weather.
Where was I?
At that moment I was parking my car in the underground garage, at the Apt building that I later managed in Redwood City. I turned off the engine, but the car kept vibrating. I thought odd. I looked up, saw one of our residents run with her little boy, across the lot, then up the stairs, to the side lawn area, where she laid him down, and covered him with her body. I saw the large pillars that support the garage, shake, as was the ceiling. I got out of my car and ran towards the entrance to the street. On the other side of the parking lot, towards the courtyard, where the pool is, a huge wave of water came rushing through the grates that separated the underground garage, to the open air courtyard above, and flooded the garage ahead of me. The pool lost quite a bit of water.

It was an interesting 3-4 days. Nightly tremors (therefore no sleep), and no power for days. That's when a BBQ comes in handy :)
One lesson learned. Don't panic. And always have lots of cash hidden. No ATM's in service=no money=no food or other important items.

If you were in the Bay Area then, where were you at that moment?

Then

And way back when

I'm a Hustla"
(I once thought many years ago, that being a hooker could be sort of fun. And getting paid for sex was kinda cool).

When I managed a building in Pacifica, a few years ago, I had a new applicant, that I approved, moved in, and was quite nice. She was young and beautiful, that Eva Longoria look. She was a bartender, stripper, and I think part time prostitute. She worked at Gentleman Jim's, in SF. She was one of the nicest residents there. Polite, quiet, and not home much. She was working nights, and going to school trying to get a degree. Trying to get her life in order.
The only problem was her BF, and his friends. Anyway to make a long story short, she was trying to break up with him, get her life in order. He was a tryant, not only to her but us. She should not of given him the apt key.
She was upset, and felt bad for us and the neighbors, so she asked if she could leave not to put us in more harm. We let her out of her lease. She quit her job, and went back home to her mom.
Aside from that, I still wonder how she is, and if she ever got her life together. She had a good kind heart and deserved so much more.
