cellboy: (Hot Couple)
An LJ friend used the term Shrimping today. I have done it, had it done (recently), but never knew the this term for it. Where have I been? LOL!

1. The usual interesting thing about dating sites, like DH, is that after awhile, if you just scope out the local guys choosing "city", they are all the same ones, nothing new. Sorta like if you frequent the bars or establishments in the Castro for a long time, the meat, as me, become old (lol). Seen them. Maybe had them. Anyone new?
2. And if you belong to multiple dating sites, they are on all those too! :)
3. And of course the "likes", "gropes", the "tugs", are sometimes, from many miles away (not drive-able in a short bit of time), or are continents away, and most are absolutely hot, or absolutely partnered, and do not leave the nest. Natch.
4. But it's all part of the game. And I am not joining any more sites. 9 is enough! (some I don't even bother to log on to any more)
cellboy: (My pet Chips)
Once a week, it's time to feed Chips.
1. I place him in an old gold fish bowl, that he once lived in, when I first got him (he was the size of a fifty cent piece then). When he sees the bowl, he gets excited, knowing it's "out and feeding time".
2. Sliders do not have salivary glands, so they can only eat in water, to help swallow.
3. He's has been always been very picky. Hates lettuce, dried fly, and only eats small brown turtle pellet food (loaded with protein and vitamins).
4. I cover the bowl with an old fan cover and rock. Years ago, an upstairs neighbor had the same type of turtle. He never covered the food bowl during feeding and sunning. Alas, a large blue jay, swooped down, plucked the turtle out of the bowl, and managed to eat it's head off, leaving the rests behind; on my patio!
5. So as a precaution, I always cover, to protect from the blue jays and large crows.
6. As an added treat, he sometimes gets a tablespoon or two of Tongol Tuna (Trader Joe's), once he had finished his pellets. As we get into winter, his appetite lessens.
7. His bowl faces west. So later in the day, if not foggy, he is basking in the warm water and sun.
