The first car the I drove in public, was the Autopia, at Disneyland, 1959, at the age of 6.
It was from then on that I loved the automobile. If I can do a road trip today, count me in! It may take longer than flying, but being on the road, watching the scenery whiz by, is the best.

Although the Autotopia has a raised center lip to guide and center the car, it was the first step to a year later, in driving the infamous Bumper Cars", free of any center guide. Different of course, where you get to bump into others. My first "on my own" drive was at Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, and Old Orchard Beach, Maine, where our family spent many a summer. I believe, no longer there, or changed completely, Hampton Beach, boasted a boardwalk, offering amusement rides, much like the Santa Cruz, CA, boardwalk of today.

After our move to CA in 1963, we took frequent visits to ride the Bumpers and other fun things at Playland at the Beach (the wild mouse roller coaster was the best!), in San Francisco, and
Santa Cruz

Autotopia, and them some at Disneyland.....

Looks like lot of people in SF and the south peninsula felt a quake. Here just a very brief shake. I thought maybe it was vibrations from a large truck on the road. But I thought I felt the same brief shake yesterday too, at night. Of course, I'll take this very seldom occurrence any day vs yearly hurricanes and tornadoes.
After living though the quake of 1989, this is nothing.

A friend of mine is looking for work (as is most everyone). His background is in Administration. And has also done some side line television (a weekly local cable talk show in the East Bay).

So if anyone knows or can suggest....

Speaking with a friend last night (the one I posted looking for a job).
1. He amongst several I have talked to recently, mentioned that everyone seems to be very down after the holidays.
2. A lot are very much on edge, depressed, unhappy. Complacent.
3. Welcome to the effects of a bad economy?
4. Even if one is not vocal about it; it seems that maybe one's subliminal negative thoughts are spreading :(
5. I hope we have an early spring. That would certainly help perk us up a bit.
