Hercules, Jason, and Spartacus
Jan. 16th, 2010 09:29 amWhen in High School(1968-1972), when we had heavy rains, PE class would sometimes be canceled, due to lack of space in the multipurpose rooms, with other classes going on. So instead, our PE teacher (muscular, handsome, and super nice) Ben Parks would set up the projector to watch football films, and just plain old movies. Two of the movies that I remember were old ones that I watched when younger. When younger, those films did not do a thing for me (although in hindsight, I did have a crush, the age of 6, on George Reeves in the TV Adventures of Superman). But later on in my youth, as my puberty began, my admiration of the male form did increase. A lot!
Two films that Coach Parks played, that I saw when younger, sparked my interest even more. Was it the muscle? The loin clothes. The physical contact between men?

Jason and the Argonauts, Some hot Gods, and some bare chested men with togas, loin cloths, and less.
Then of course there was Steve Reeves in the Hercules films. I drooled over him when I was a young kid. Even this 1957 photo of him is hot.
And so the toga saga continues: Premiering Jan 22, on Starz, is Spartacus. From what I have seen, it will be again a mix of muscle, sweat, skin, and action. But as in the old films where is the fur? Where is the muscle and fur? Doesn't one man in the crowd have at least a little fur?
