1. The usual thing about straight men, is they never complement each other, as gay men do, or women do with each other. Well it's not that way at a gym. Even a straight gym.
2. Tonight at the gym, with the warmer weather, I wore a new tank top, that is more slim fitting, than my baggy shirts that I usually wear.
3. The first thing that Chris, my trainer said, was "Man your filling out, and looking good."
4. After 30 minutes of chest exercises, and some bicep super sets, he said, Look at your body how full it is after working out. "What ever your doing, diet wise, etc, keep it up". I thanked him, and said his help was why I'm improving.
5. Then one of the regulars (who has no direction or guidance,and has not changed his body in over a year), who I see almost every night said, "What happened to you?". You have leaned out and gotten more definition." Another regular said the same thing too.
6. This is not to sound egotistical, but it felt good. As I told my trainer, I don't see myself that way at all (he said that's because you see your self every day. Actually I never see myself that way (a self esteem issue). Tonight my trainer really made a point for me look in the mirror, or focus to what was happening, as we were working out; watching the muscles change, expand, and fill with blood as the workout continued.
7. I sometimes consider maybe taking a small break from all of this, but after today, (and the complements my FB said to me on Friday night), it now makes me want to continue.
8. After the complements, I maxed out full force on the exercises. Pushed even more.
9. I still have a lot (a lot) of work to do. I may never attain what I appreciate in the gym world out there. Or look like some of my friends, or some of the hot men I see around town. But I'm trying at least. Hell! I'm 56 yrs old!
10. And hell, it fills out the early mid week evenings. Better than sitting in front of the TV all night (well, I enjoy that too).
