1. Thursday, our Company Kick Off was pretty good. It began with the usual awards, speeches, then lunch. The theme this year as iTeam. Putting the "i" into Team to produce better results.

2. Upon return to the meeting room, each of us had a drum placed on our seats, and on stage a group of drummers, drumming to a beat, much like an African beat. The speaker (a gal from South Africa) conducted us to drum, at certain beats. One half of the room at one beat, the other half at a separate beat. After a while, all 300 of us got it pretty good. She then talked about how tribes in Africa communicate with drums, and how drumming together is a form of bonding, to form a team. And how all of this is intertwined in social communication to build a team, and motivate. The drum beats, can become a contest, whereas enemy tribes drum against each other in time to end up drumming in unison, to become allies. It was actually pretty cool the group was called Drum Cafe. This was a great way to push the envelope on company seminars!

3. The 2 hour drum session was then followed by a magician, who performed funny stuff, with help from the audience. His employer is Disneyland/Disney World. He shared with us how Disney manages the business and the parks, and how they turn oops disaster moments to wow moments every day, to give the public that perfect view of the park. Apparently they work in a very positive way with their employees as well.

4. Friday, the day of my physical, I woke up with a sore throat, and some lower neck, upper lung congestion

5. My doc said it looks like I have allergies, by the look of my throat and cough (my cough started at the gym a few days earlier, and figured I had runners cough, from the the upped use of the treadmill and stair master, and going from a warm gym to the night cold outside, on my way to the car.

6. Well he was wrong and right. I had a upper chest cold. And I think, allergies to boot (thanks to our odd warm weather, everything is blooming that should not!)

7. So reluctantly I did go to the usual night out on Friday with friends, but tried to get home early. I was not really in any mood to be out. And my libido was not in a good mood either.

8. Saturday, I woke up more congested. But oddly my head was not too stuffy, just the area below the throat, at the trachea, and upper lungs.

9. Ah! That means it could advance to bronchitis or worse if I were not careful. I have always had lung issues from birth, so I need to pay attention.

10. So all weekend, except for an hour of food shopping, I stayed in. Relaxed, drank lots of Green Tea (the ringing in my ears has seems to of lessened since I have stopped coffee for a few days), took lots of Zinc, did some paperwork, watched TV.

11. Torn to go to the gym (should I go? Should I not?), I did not. Figured I will let this stuff pass, before I jump back in. Getting sicker will only put be off track even more.

12. So sorry to say I have nothing to report of the weekend, that I did nothing. But feeling better today.

13. I'm just thinking now, I could of transferred my journal to Dreamwidth, done some other computer stuff while home all day! Arg! Oh well. At least I cleaned my room of tax stuff, which is ready to go, as soon as I get my 1099's.

14. So this morning I did the at home stool sample thing as part of my physical. Dab a bit up, put in the envelope and mail. When I tell the mail man I have some shit to mail, this for the first time it will be literal! LOL. Ewwww. I still don't understand how anyone can be into scat (not the music)

15. Last week the SF Chronicle contacted me about my building I manage, and they publish articles of certain neighborhoods. So Sunday morning I get texts and emails from friends saying they saw my name in the paper. My name is misspelled (I spelled it to him 3 times! LOL. As the Republicans say, "the press never gets it right!". LOL). But this puts me in good favor with corporate :)

Winter, Spring, or Summer?
1. Our weather has been very unusual this year. Where is the real heavy rain? Where are the weeks of back to back of rain?

2. Are we in for a drought, or will we be pelted with rain in Feb, March, and April?

3. I hope the ski resorts in the Sierras pocketed funds from last seasons record snow. They are sure in need of snow now! Most resorts are still closed! Or partially open.

While cleaning up my balcony yesterday, I noticed that the garlic/or onion bulbs have produced healthy green stalks behind my water fall. This normally does not happen until May or June

Although hard to see, my Impatiens, which I usually replace in the spring are starting to leaf and flower

What's even more shocking is that my Orchids, which never bloom, (I am never lucky with indoor orchids, or ficus plants for sure!) are starting to bud. It's been yrs since they've budded if that at all!
