The weekend and week so far
Feb. 8th, 2012 08:08 am1. Finally! My cold is "really" gone! Just a small cough once in awhile.
2. So that made it a good day for my first trip to the gym in over a week. That visit was last Sunday. I took it slow and easy though.
3. After being out late with friends in SF on Friday night (the usual haunts), Saturday was the day to food shop, laundry and stay in. Saturday night, I was in bed and asleep by 10:30 PM and slept for about 9 hrs. Felt good!
4. Sunday, after gym, and a late breakfast, it was off to the Lone Star to watch the Superbowl. As I posted before, I was not really into the football thing. It was Madonna and the commercials that I was more interested in.
5. Once Madonna came onto the big screen, bears, muscle bears, the Lone Star patrons, young and old were screaming and singing their heart outs to Madonna. Like little school girls. "Do you think this a gay bar?" I asked. This redheaded bearded hunk standing next to me looked at me and laughed.
6. Too many hot dogs, chips, beer, and a cigar made the day. But it also made my sleepy time not so sleepy. Heartburn and strange dreams, kept me up most of the night. Only to produce a sleepy and bumpy day at the office on Monday.
5. With rents coming in, owner visits coming up (yes, here we go again), it was busy at work.
6. I had my appointment today at Kaiser with the Audiologist. While sitting in the waiting room, I noticed, from afar the photos of the Doctors of the Audiologist Lab. I could see the Doctor that I was to visit. A man. Dr Webb. But closer, at the name, it seems that Dr Webb is woman! Not to stereotype from appearances, but it seems that this Doc may be a lesbian!
7. A few minutes later, I was introduced to Dr Webb, and proceeded to the examination room. This Dr Webb is so much better looking in person! Actually very nice looking! And yes. From all accounts of my usually not to accurate gaydar, it seems that she just may be a lesbian. Yay! It's so nice to see "family" once in awhile, working in a hospital setting (I still miss my gay doc, and dermatologist who both retired a few yrs ago)
8. After tests, my hearing is perfect. The periodic ringing, and sometimes constant ringing in the ear could be caused by possibly many factors: Allergies, caffeine, stress, muscle tension... and the list goes on. She did say to try some hot relaxing baths, massage, to see if that will help (I think hot baths helped in the past. But not sure).
9. Tinnitus can arise in any of the four sections of the ear: the outer ear, the middle ear, the inner ear, and the brain. Apparently some people who have had the drum and such removed in hope of ridding the sound don't. The brain continues to produce this sound without the ear.
10. There is not exact cause she said, and seemed to play it down, with the suggestions on how to relax etc. So with the myriad of causes, I guess I'll experiment a bit, and just give it time.
11. Kaiser tends to play most things down, or are conservative at first. Which I suppose is OK (I expected a CT scan). But if things get worse, or more annoying I will let them know (she told me to contact here if further problems). An ENT would of suggested the same thing, she said.
12. In other health issues, my brother-in-law fell down on his front walkway trying to pick up the newspaper. He hit is head hard enough to spill blood on the walk way. Good thing my sister was home. They rushed him to the hospital, where he spent over a week for a very slow recuperation.
13. I may of mentioned this before, that my sister told me last summer that Bill, has Parkinson's. Has had it for 5 yrs. He has been on some meds, and has been doing well (I had not noticed any of the symptoms until this year). But even then, they were barely noticeable.
14. His fall, produced a concussion and a contusion. After a week in the hospital, the blood on the brain cleared up, but he is slow to recuperate.
15. He came home last week, and my poor sister is taking care of him. He is finally eating, but still sleeping a lot. His trip to the bathroom, is still a hard exhausting trip (he was on a walker, but now using a cane).
16. Unfortunately since he can't walk very far, he is stuck upstairs, and unable to go downstairs to the living area.
17. My sister is a great caregiver with always patience, and a good attitude (she was marvelous with my mother). It's not always easy, and I'm sure she has her moments, but all in all she is wonderful!
18. "That's What Friends Are For" - Monday night my sister' friend emailed her that they are there to help her (home cooked food delivered for 3 weeks) and give her a bit of R & R (free massage). I know that when I was going through my "Hell", slowly losing my partner, Larry, to AIDS, it was mostly my friends (and my mom too!) that gave me the strength.
( Here are the two emails offering love and help from my sister's friends )
