"It was never said that paid users NEVER got anything, just that in the beginning when there was nothing extra to give users who paid did so because they loved the service and wanted to see the site and community developed further.
Which is what is going on now. I see that you are a paid user, as am I. I am sure that you pay because you love the features, the extras that you get.
I will agree that advertisements are intrusive at times but you visit any site on the web that is trying to make money and you will encounter advertisements either for something the site itself is offering or other sites. Money makes the world go round.
Without the advertisements LiveJournal would not be what it is today, you would not have the features you love, the many layout options, the phone and text posts, the very helpful staff.
And you seem to be downplaying the fact that these are just translations. The bible is a translation and you see how divided that makes people, why take up a strong stance either way, it just pisses people off. This is not just human psychology, which retaliates more the more it is pressed.
