in and out surgery in 30 minutes
May. 27th, 2008 01:09 pmAbout 4 weeks ago, I bit my tongue severely, eating fast. Twice in the same place. A week later, while brushing my teeth, I noticed a red mark on my tongue. Sorta like a blood blister, but hard inside. And it seemed to get worse and larger. And when I ate my molars would rub on it and it would bleed (yes no kissing or sex with this in the way). So today I had it looked at. Neurotic as I can be, I thought I had a possibility of cancer. The very nice female Dr looked at it and said that this is sometimes common, when the tongue is traumatized, biting, puncture from bones, etc. And very rare to be cancer, since I never smoked, and this would look different if it were. When traumatized, it can sometime heal strange. So I had the choice of going later for removal, or do it now. I opted for now. She injected my tongue. That was the most painful part. But not as painful as a nipple piercing. Then within minutes it was numb. She removed the mass. It was the size of a large pea. Stitched up the hole. And I was off to work. They are sending it to pathology, as protocol. But she said it looks fine. In a few days, I will be healed up. Tongues heal fast. But now with a numb tongue, I am slurring on the phone LOL . Just eat normally. Will just need some Tylenol for later. Lesson = Eat your food slowly!
