Can it, or will it be that bad?

I just finished watching Glenn Beck on Headline News. Is our economy that bad? Is the US is turning into a bad credit risk in the world's eyes? Are we really headed or possibly headed to an almost 1929 slump? His guests from both sides of the political spectrum are pretty much in agreement, that it is going to get worse before it gets better. I am a bit concerned. Well more than just concerned. I'm very worried.

The dollar is down. That's supposed to make foreign goods more expensive, and American goods (we make stuff?) cheaper. It also drives up the cost of oil.

tonethbone is saying that things are not well. Him, I'd believe.

Although, I tend to believe Glenn Beck is a bit of an asshat.
