Friday, we arrived at our hotel, after an easy flight to Palm Springs, at about 11pm. So of course being only a short walk to the Barracks, Khol and I gingerly went over, not wanting to miss out on any possible festivities. Steve, the humpy bartender poured us some Long Island iced teas, which I had not had in years

After 3 of them, we were on a major buzz. I of course wanting to makeup for lost time, I was particularly friendly to the DJ, which paid off :-) Let's just say, DJ booths can be quite accommodating! Pooped and a bit toasted, Khol and I were back at the hotel before last call. The next morning we walked over to the "Villas" resort, for breakfast. Low and behold we ran into Jerry the previous owner of the Lone Star. He works the bar on weekends, and few days a week. Such a nice guy. We used to discuss Cadillacs, and old cars, when ever we met. He loves it down there. Also sitting next to us, Matthew, owner of Eureka (formally Red Grill). Nice guy and Woof! Well, double woof! The Villas, and Ozz, both have done a marvelous job in major remodeling (especially the Villas). After breakfast, we rented a car, and spent the day, shopping, looking at new homes (man! the prices are cheap!), and of course sitting by the pool. I have not guzzled so much water in a long time. The dry air does make one parched; or maybe it was the previous nights' Long Islands!

Temps were only in the 80's, which was perfect. Clean air, blue skies and soring mountains surrounded us. Nice thing is that we arrived the weekend after and before two big events... so the crowds were minimal. This means you get to meet more of the locals. Plus less of a sore neck, from rubbernecking at all the hot ones! "No! I want this one. No! That one! No! That one! (you get the point). We began Saturday night by eating at "Look". Cute waiters, and a delicious Steak Diane; a perfect way to start the evening. Then later on off to the local watering holes, and finally ending up at the Barracks. Again, the pouring of Long Islands (not as many this time). Each prepared drink included long and penetrating kisses by the "humpy" bartender. Which I might say, as the night wore on, he was quite accommodating too! Woof! OK. Double woof! Don't know what it is, but I sometimes tend to get in a bit of trouble with the staff of such establishments. That night I, by delightful accident, I ran into my friend Bill, who had moved down here from San Francisco a couple of yrs ago. He was a good friend, help, and inspiration to my late partner Larry. Was great catching up, and we planned to meet here again the next day at the infamous beer bust. Which we did.

Sunday, Khol and I were slow moving at first. Warmer in temps. But still comfortable. After a great Eggs Benedict at the Villas, we were off to shop a bit, before returning the rental car. Later that afternoon, the Barracks bust was on. Hot dogs served. Met up with Bill to continue our "catch up' on things. Met two hot men, from Phoenix, originally from Baltimore. Hotties they are! And the "porn star like" hunk wore a shirt saying " Lost the hair, but kept the big dick", was truly appropriate in his tight cotton stretch shorts. He was one of the most popular that afternoon. OK. Woof again! Could not, as most peeps in the bar, keep my eyes off of him! And of course they are married, and monogamous, S#%#%#$!! Also met some "older Bears" that knew my late partner, and also lived not far from where I grew up.

The bar by 7 pm was packed! We then eventually made it to the Pizza Parlor under Sidewinders. Had a good pizza, then off to bed for the 4 am wake up to catch the plane. Yawn!

It is 4 am, and I am exhausted. I kept waking up every hour thinking it was time to get up. Flew to LA, then to SFO. Made it to work by 9 am. Flying is great. I do like traveling". Did quite a bit, dating a flight attendant. As I was sitting in my narrow seat, I was thinking how other frequent "business" travelers, that I know (Kathy of Bonnie Belle, Michael (the X, and flight attendant & his FA friends), or [livejournal.com profile] urbear ) do it. Plus tolerate it. Flying, flying, flying. Hotel, hotel, hotel. I like, flying, being pampered, eating out. But on a daily or weekly thing? I still want to get home, eat my own food, get into my own bed (even with all its nooks and crannies) and crash.

It was a very short weekend, and always nice to be home. OK. Next trip this trollop will be taking is a few short ones to the River, Sacramento, and of course, Southern Decadence. Looking forward to that. I must say, I pretty much behaved this weekend (damn!). So of course I am climbing the walls. Off to mom's for mothers day this coming weekend; so I will really be climbing the walls!
