Did the Death of Michael Jackson, slow down LJ servers?

Minutes after I heard the news of Michael Jackson's death, it virtually took me minutes to log on. Once I did, posting was at a "freeze". Then after several attempts, of logging on, then off, then on again, I get a LJ message, stating it is in maintenance at the moment. Did anyone else have this LJ moment? (FB had no problems).

Looks like artic_fox may have, as others did, that commented to his post.

"EDIT: OKAY, AND NOW ONTD IS CLEARLY BREAKING LJ. MY INTERNET IS SO SLOW IT FEELS LIKE THE WHOLE WORLD IS TRYING TO GET ONLINE RIGHT NOW."
