I still......prefer

Well, I still prefer to use the word bury (burrr-rie), (as I have done for years) instead of berry. Tomato, tomata???? :o)

Well, thank god nobody's getting upset with you for doing so. Now if only there could be such acceptance for the other crowd. :)

Bet you were one of those kids in class who responded with more than his brain.

Actually I was the quiet one, that sat in back of the class; and daydreamed :)

I was brought up with the mindset that people who ate certain things and said things in certain ways weren't "right" and should be shunned.

Over time, I learned to realize that these differences weren't all that important, that certain foodstuffs weren't inherently "evil", and that pronounciations were merely regional variants.

So, that's why I commented earlier like I did.

Exactly. Growing up in a bilingual family, we were pretty much aware and respectful of ones differences. I actually find regional differences/variants intriguing.
