1. We actually fared well this time.
2. With a bit of pre storm prepping, clearing out some drains, and downspouts, we did not get too flooded out (unlike our Pacifica sister property, who had a flooded parking lot 4 feet deep (power was out, so sump pumps were not working), trees down from very forceful winds.
3. Our winds were pretty tough too: a huge Spruce on the property line fell on our lawn. The complex next door called and said they would get their landscapers there tomorrow to remove. That was nice.
In other not too exciting news
1. I took the nose pack out this morning. Ugh. What an odd feeling.
2. Doc today said all is healing fine, but to be sure the scab and healing progress, no gym till Monday. :) or :(
3. My phone line and and DSL were down. Phone line still dead, but DSL is now working fine.
4. For awhile my email kept going to Mac.mail, which is inactive, instead of POP earthlink, even though I set the preferences a few times. All seems fine now.
Outsourcing as usual.....one of the reasons I dislike AT&T
1. I called the AT&T repair line service from my cellphone, and got some woman, who I could barely understand. I think I was calling India. I told her my phone line was dead, my DSL was on then off, or very slow.
She then asked me "what state are you in?" I was going to say "frustrated", but given the language barrier, she probably would not get the humor.
2. So she said she would connect me. She connected me to an automated system, which gave me the run around, until I got a live operator. She answered, with a southern accent, and asked what state I was in. I was tempted, to say....... but I told her CA. She said, Oh My! This is South Carolina! Hold on while I connect you to CA.
3. Connected, I got a automated male voice, that prompted me to either say or punch in the phone number that is in trouble. After 3 attempts (it kept saying this number does not exist), he/it/god, said that an appointment can be made, Thursday between the hours of 8am-8pm, by pressing #1. I pressed #1,and then it said that day cannot be made. Press #2 for another day. I pressed #2, and he/it/God said, "Thursday is available from the hour of 8am-8pm. To choose press #1. I did. I got the appointment.
4. So after my 35 minute trip from India, South Carolina, and who knows, Sacramento?, I have an appointment, Thursday, 8am-8pm.
5. This is why for now, I will not buy an iPhone. I am not crazy for AT&T. Yes it is a separate division. But after sixty million years of being in service to our area (formerly Pacific Bell), you would think they would stream line the system. You should see what a mess they made of my office system.... the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing
6. The repair man better be cute......
