THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
It seems hard to believe, but less than a month has gone by since we first posted on this site that Harry “Castrobear” Lit, founder of Lazy Bear Weekend, suffered a stroke and slipped into a coma while hosting a bear event in Cancun. At that time we put out a plea to help raise funds to hire an air ambulance and bring him home to San Francisco.
The out-pouring of support was both immediate and overwhelming. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our entire community (bear and non-bear, men and women, gay and straight), we’ve been able to pay for the air ambulance and eliminate that debt for Harry and Allen. In fact, we’ve raised enough to help them with some of the mounting hospital bills that insurance won’t cover.
To those who contributed money, thank you so much! And to those who supported Harry and Allen with positive thoughts and prayers, thank you, too! We wish we knew how to thank each of you individually. Rest assured your generosity and concern touches our hearts more than you can ever know.
The news from the hospital continues to be promising though cautious. Harry continues to make progress though he is far from being out of the woods. He has good moments of alertness and communication most days, though those moments are too far and few between. He’s also been able to move his arms and legs a little though he is not able to sit up on his own or swallow on his own. He continues to have good days and not-so-good days, but doctors say that’s to be expected. They are also cautiously optimistic that Harry will make a full recovery… but agree that it will be a long road back.
What a month: from a horrifying frightful Halloween to a bountiful Thanksgiving when we truly have something for which to be thankful! We are so grateful to each and every person who has shown love and support during this period. We’re blessed to be part of this community!
We’ll continue to post updates about Harry’s condition on this site as he continues his recovery. Meantime, have a wonderful Thanksgiving and please continue to keep Harry in your thoughts and prayers as you will remain in ours. If the updates seem far and few between, recognize that no news is good news.

Thank you Rick for posting an update. Glad he´s a bit better and they was able to pay their depts for the air ambulance and the hospital.
Sounds like it will take a long time to recover, but if the docs are positive that he´ll full recover that are good news. I keep my fingers crossed for him and wish him only the best!
