Joking aside, a whale day can be a special one. Several times I have been on the ferry when it has to slow or stop to let a pod of killer whales pass. They have the right of way around here. I have a friend who is able to put a hydrophone in the water from his property and listen to them talking to each other.
Each ferry departure has a different animal code. They rotate them. The ferries are all "Queens" - we like her / them up here. Otter Bay is the ferry terminal on Pender Island.
