One of the worst things about growing up Catholic was Lent. We had to go to church, and have a cross marked with ashes on our foreheads. Then walk around all day looking silly! (I used to wash it off immediately before going to school). Yes. I guess I was a bad Catholic! LOL!
I am noticing some adults running around town with a cross on their foreheads. LOL!

Years ago, my big sister brought back a palm frond from mass, and for whatever reason, decided to burn it in the bathroom.

My mother, who has a pyrophobia, smelled the smoke, and it became quite a big deal.

I guess I am a bad Catholic too. I didn't even go to the Church today. However whilst in Pittsburgh for a doctor's appointment, I saw quite a few people with the Cross.

On a side note, how have you been? I get so caught up, I forget to blog. BAD BARRY, right? I will have to make a better effort to blog at least weekly.

I´m Catholic, too, but I don´t go into church and don´t care what Catholics have to do and what not. Had to go into the chruch as I was a child but now I don´t go...
The most of people wash the cross away after coming out of the church, I guess my grandmother wore it till it faded but she was a die hard Catholic and whenever the bells rang, she went into church...
A question, do the Catholics at the USA celebrate carnival?

Growing up my mom was religious. But after time, and some disappointments with the church, she became more liberal, and the family did too. Well we all celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Well my mom became more liberal as I grew up, so going to church was not so important later in life. Glad to see you back (I commented on your post). :)

My mom never was very religious because her mother was too religous, it was her mother who always went into church when the bells rang, therefore while I grow up I visited church only from time to time and yet only if I´m forced to do like funerals and the christening of my niece last year.
That´s interesting, only in New Orleans? I´m glad carinval is over, I don´t care much for it but in Germany first people celebrate carinval and then the lent but nobody really cares about the lent nowadays...
