The weekend and week so far
Mar. 21st, 2011 01:00 pm1. After reviewing some of my posts, I really need to get new glasses! LOL. Arg! I hate the office computer keyboard. And this system does not spell check as I type (not like my Mac).
2. Plus I think I am getting atocuh touch of dyslexia! o_O
3. Friday night was the usual. I met Carlos, Mark and Jim at Midnight Sun. It was pretty packed as usual. We were to stay out for only a bit, but of course we ended up at a very crowded 440 even with the louzy weather! We were lucky enough to get seats, so why not stay longer? A quick hi to
dendren, as he and Bob headed towards the back.
4. Later it was off for a slice of pizza and home. The drive home sucked. Windy, stormy with hard rain and hail. Jim made it home to San Jose, but said Hwy 280 was covered in ice, from the hail. His car slid a bit, as did the others ahead of him.
5. Yeah. We're still hanging out together. This is so complicated (and sometimes irritating) I don't want to even start talking about it. We shall see what happens.
6. Saturday Jim had the idea of heading south to Paso Robles to do some wine tasting. In spite of the bad weather at home, the drive south of San Jose was really nice. We initially went to Morgan Hill. He wanted to show me where he lived. The mountains were covered with snow as we ventured south. Cloudy, very little rain. For a bit, my driving was a bit uneven.... never try to "play" while driving! LOL!
7. Paso Robles is famous for Zinfandel wines. Unknown to us, we just happened to arrive for the Zinfandel Festival! Unfortunately for the bad storms the night before, and not knowing what was in store with Saturday's weather, most of the festivities at most wineries were moved indoors or canceled. But the wind pouring continued.
8. There was still quite a lot of tourists out and about in spite of the looming clouds above. We met quite a few nice people (some gay) as we toured the area wineries.
9. After visiting about 4 wineries, it was time to go home. The ride was easy, but the rains were on the way.
10. I had a craving for Joe's Special (ground beef sauteed with mushrooms, spinach and egg). So we stopped in downtown San Jose, at Original Joe's. Joe's Special did not taste as good as I remember. A bit dry, it probably would be best if they had a sour cream sauce, such as a beef stroganoff mix.
11. After dinner it was time to head home. Driving up Interstate 280 was challenging as the rain pounded on the freeway and heavy winds. There were constant rivers of water crossing the freeway, which is bit jarring when driving over it.
12 By the time I reached Palo Alto, the roads were dry.
13. Sunday was gym time, and a bit of food shopping. Then later to the Eagle, Lone Star, and 440. Weather was a bit better. Just a few sprinkles with partly cloudy skies.
14. Had some Japanese food next door from 440, then home to sleep.
15. Today I am exhausted! Is it 6pm yet?
