Catching up with the masses
Jul. 22nd, 2011 08:23 am1. Finally! Got rid of my creaky flip phone, and upgraded to the EVO
2. Yes. I know. I am an "i" proponent (iMac, iPad, iwhatever), but I disdane AT&T. And I have been a Sprint customer for over 10 years.... which means, cheap upgrades, and some discounts too.
3. Although a bit overwhelmed at first in the navigating, I spent most of the late afternoon playing with it, and up till 1 am playing with it (the phone! silly the phone!), setting my preferred settings and all :)
3. On the phone so long, battery life failed (6-7 hrs life they say. I can purchase a 12 hr battery for $50)
4. The only initial irritation was I had open a Gmail account (free), so I can get updates for the phone (now I have 2 email addresses!).
5. At first, I could not set up my regular email Earthlink account app. It was not recognizing my codes and passwords, and POP settings. So I accessed via the web to my web mail, to only find out that to respond to any emails, I had to reply in regular text, not Rich Text. Bummer

7. So back at the office, on the phone with the Earthlink help desk operator (obviously from a Call Center on the other side of the world, He was helpful, and a bit annoying also. Actually we were annoyed with each other. He could not understand me well, and I could hardly understand him. Our accents were just not meshing.
8. Within minutes, it was resolved, and every fricking email on my Earthlink server landed into my icon envelope.I may tweek the notifications on this one. Yay! I am connected!
9. I am now connected to world, in an updated way :)
10. I know. Why did it take so long to do this?
