1. When I first came out in the 80's, my first experience seeing men dance together, was at Clubs; like Desperadoes (Campbell), and I-Beam (SF).
2. At first, I thought it looked a bit odd. Mostly due to conditioning of seeing only men and women dancing together. But with time, one adjusts, and thinks nothing of it. However seeing two women dance, at straight or gay venues, always seemed fine or not odd (social conditioning?)
3. I then later experienced slow dancing, the closely holding of each other, at functions held by the Art Deco Society, where one danced, in formal attire, to old tunes of the 20's, 30's, and 40's. That was even odder to view, and do, at first. And determining who was to lead or follow was sometimes a challenge (lol).
4. The fast energy of the Country Western, (The Rawhide in SF), the two-step and all, was also an adjustment to view and dance. But for some reason, seemed more easy and natural. Again. Lead or Follow? And of course seeing men Line Dancing, could be a scene in any club...gay or straight.
5. As I was watching Dancing with the Stars last night, I thought, could Ball Room Dancing work with 2 men, or 2 women dancing?
6. Watching the moments of the male dancer, the way he held, twirled, and carried the female partner, with her graceful moves, and her chiffon, and silk outfit floating in the air. I just don't know.
6. It all seems so right and "normal" (what ever normal is). Again conditioning?
7. But if it is with 2 men, who is to lead? Follow? Who is to wear the chiffon, and silks? O-o
