1. Last Saturday, we all got together at Bacchus to celebrate friend Don Ho and Gary Virginia's Birthday. To prep for this, Mark and I went to the local Oahu Safeway (nice Safeway!), purchased the cake, and also some Graham Pie crusts and pudding to make the SHIT PIES.
2. Last Christmas, Ho showed up to some event in a casual dress, while others at his table were decked out to the nines. One guy said to him he was dressed like the help. This so erked Ho, that he was determined to make some T-shirts with shit pies on them saying I am the Help (If you saw the movie The Help, you'd understand.
3. So with the pudding cups, and 5 pie crusts, Mark made some shit pie (he dropped chocolate raisonetts on top to make it more authentic. It was! LOL
4. So that afternoon, we got to food to the bar early, to then later on, meet our friends and any patrons to the bar to celebrate with Cake, chocolate pudding pie, and some ordered pizza. We had a great time!!!
5. That night also, the monsoon rains arrived. Within minutes the streets were flooded. We all got drenched going back to the hotel. Seeing that it was raining, and supposidly to rain on Sunday the next day, the BEAR Catamaran Cruise was canceled. Boo that!
6. Although a bit drizzly Sunday, a few of us decided to do a real touristy thing and go to the Dole Pineapple Plantation tour. It was actually really good! The gift shop had of course anything to do with pineapple; shirts, ice cream, wine, butter, salt, coffee.....
7. Monday was a beautiful day and a lazy day. Griff, Gary, Carlos, and Ho had left for home, so Mark and I ended up
going to Queens Beach for a few hours, do a bit of shopping before packing for our trip back home the next day.
8. We ended up not going to Allan Wongs for dinner, but ended up at the beach in a wonderful steak and seafood restaurant, Chucks. The food was great and the view of Waikiki and the sunset marvelous.
9. Tuesday it was off to the airport. Mark upgraded to first class. I could not get the deal I got before so I flew back in steerage. LOL. I was so tired, that I could of sat in the cargo bin and would of slept just fine.
10. Before leaving Oahu, I emailed my doctor at Kaiser telling him of my cough and such. While waiting to board, the office called and scheduled an appt for the next day at 11am. Wow! That was fast!
11. Home by 9:30 PM, and with my body clock still on Hawaiian time (6:30 pm), I managed to unpack, do laundry and grocery shop before bedtime.
12. Wednesday morning, I met with my doctor. He placed the stethoscope to my lungs, told me to inhale and remarked "Oh my". With my sinus infection (which could of been caused by allergies or a cold), the constant drip, combined with the sore throat that I had before leaving on vacation, I contracted a slight case of bronchitis (maybe some pneumonia). But he said I was smart not to cancel my trip. The warm weather, sun, and salt air was good for me, and the crap in my lungs. Plus my history of working out at the gym also helps. Just don't get as sick as one could be. So that's good!
13. I actually felt great on Sunday in Oahu, thinking I was getting better. But it seemed to all return on Monday and Tuesday. So seeing that I have had off and on lung issues since childhood, he felt that I go on antibiotics, two inhalers (Albuterol, Qvar, and some Flonase. X-ray came out fine. No pneumonia. And I am feeling really great after only the second day on this stuff.
14. I was back at work today, Thursday, with lots to do. Coverage did a great job, but there are always things to catch up on. Today should be a bit easier with work load. Plus it is a short work week for me! YAY!!
15. I'm going to stay around home to be sure I get well soon. I canceled my volunteer clean up with friend Griff at the Aid Memorial Grove Saturday morning, and my overnight trip that night to Sacramento Mr Bolt Leather Contest. I have not gone to the gym since before vacation, and will wait on that till I get better (I lost 3 pounds on the trip! LOL. Must of been all that walking!)
16. Have a great weekend everyone!!
