to top off
Dec. 5th, 2007 07:06 pmlast nights post:
We received notice in last Friday's email, when I was out of town, that Blue Cross is dropping us, Woodmont Properties, as an account (I missed this notice hidden in the scads of emails. I wish they would send notices to us with our paychecks) Apparently they are dropping us because of the large number of claims filed this year. So the only provider that the company has is Kaiser. Oy! That sucks. I am sure there are other reasons for this drop that our company is not telling.
I switched to Kaiser last year. Not as good as a PPO, but better than nothing. What is bad is our maintenance man who has just recovered from non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, is screwed. Just back with us for a month, he still needs to follow up with his cancer doctors, to get his stint removed, continue with blood work, and have some minor surgery caused by the chemo. He is on Blue Cross. He may have to continue with this plan, at his own expense, (and it will be expensive) to complete the necessary surgeries. That sucks. And I know if he pays for his own health ins, our company will not compensate him one bit. I feel so bad for him. Such a nice man. He doesn't deserve these problems.
So tonight, I sit and read the new and confusing Kaiser Plan offered. Looks like they now have 3 options.
Again this wonderful health system. Large firms have great health insurance. But the smaller ones, the line is drawn, and are penalized. They end up paying more. And end up having to charge their employees more. " The rich get richer...." Maybe National Health care would be better. I have not heard complaints from my Quebec relatives on this subject. Yet. Happy Holidays!
