cellboyThis is a bit selfish of me, but I would like for once to celebrate the holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, with my friends. Not family. Don't get me wrong. My family, my mom, who will not live forever (going on 86), and my sister and her family, I love dearly. But for once, I would like to have a 100% gay, or mostly gay holiday. Have friends over for Thanksgiving. Celebrate the Xmas holiday (no gifts) in a fun manner. And Easter too (I have only been to the Castro Easter Hat Parade only once). Celebrate with those who, for various reasons, can not celebrate with their families.
I would like to volunteer at Tenderloin Tessies Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners, for those in need. Even one year, go on a trip, maybe Hawaii, or on an RSVP holiday cruise.
As most families with gay siblings, they have no clue how important our "community of friends" are. They are our rock, our shelter, our solace. And it is this time, of of many holiday times, that I want to be with them to share.
